1/12/2017 - Burglary
On January 10, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to a business under construction in the area of 17th Street and Phillips Avenue for a burglary.Unknown suspect(s) entered the building and took numerous construction tools.The tools stolen consisted of hand power tools and drywall tools.The total value in loss is estimated to be in excess of $8500. On January 1, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to a convenience store in the 3500 block of West 49th Street for a robbery.The suspect walked into the store with his hood pulled up over his head.He walked up to the clerk and handed her a note demanding money from the cash register.The suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of money.The suspect was described as a Black male, 5’10 with a skinny build.He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, and grey gloves.A photo of the suspect is attached. On December 27, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near 69th Street and Grand Prairie Drive for a burglary.An unknown suspect(s) were able to enter the residence by forcing open a secure door.Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a stand up safe which contained several watches, a handgun, financial documents, and some prescription medications.The total value of loss is estimated to be approximately $5,000.SFPD CC# 16-102497.
On December 21, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial burglary in the 2800 block of W. 6th Street. The investigation found that unknown suspect(s) had cut a lock on a gate to the property and then forced entry into the office during the overnight hours. An ATM and a vehicle were stolen from the business. The vehicle was later recovered. SFPD #2016-101071
Over the course of the last several weeks, the Sioux Falls Police Department has responded to 8 different reports of package thefts. The packages were delivered to the victim’s homes and then left on the front porch. The Sioux Falls Police Department is asking people to follow these tips to protect you from being a victim.1.Ask a neighbor to pick up your packages for you if you know you’re not going to be home.2.Have items delivered to your work.3. If a retailer allows it, select a specific time for delivery when you will be home.

On December 6, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial burglary in the 1000 block of S. Cleveland Avenue. Officers on scene found that entry was forced to the business and an ATM was stolen. The investigation revealed that the suspect(s) were in a Ford F-250 pickup which was later located by police. This vehicle had been reported stolen in Lincoln County on November 23, 2016. A photo of this vehicle is attached. SFPD #2016-97211
On November 27, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to 5112 W. 12th Street for an armed robbery. A male suspect armed with a black handgun entered the business and demanded money from the employee. The suspect was described as a black male with a thin build and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a ski mask with a skeletal image on it. The suspect fled the business with an undetermined amount of money. SFPD #2016-95165
On November 18, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to 2505 West Russell Street for an armed robbery. Two suspects entered the store with long guns and demanded money from the clerk.The first suspect is described as white male, 5’8”-5’10” tall, wearing a tan colored coat and dark jeans.The suspect’s face was covered with a mask and he had a hood pulled up.The second suspect is described as a white male, 6’0” to 6’1” tall, wearing a black coat and dark jeans.He had his face covered with a purple scarf and was wearing a hat.The two suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.SFPD #2016-92548.
On November 15, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to the 7100 block of West 26th Street for a bank robbery. Two suspects entered the bank wearing disguises and one of the suspects was armed with a handgun.The suspect with the gun is described as 6’0”-6’5” tall, and weighed 200 to 230 pounds.He was wearing a dark colored baseball cap with gold lettering, possibly relating to the US Navy.He wore a light colored shirt and dark pants.The second suspect is described as a black man, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, and weighed 250 to 300 pounds.He wore a mask and wig, a light colored shirt and dark pants.Both men left in a dark colored car, possibly a newer model Audi with an undisclosed amount of money.SFPD #2016-91733.
On November 4, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to the 1200 block of North Cliff Avenue for a burglary. An unknown suspect broke into the business through the roof.After breaking through the roof, the suspect had to break through the ceiling to gain entry to the building.Once inside, the suspect stole the small free standing ATM. The value of the ATM and the damage done to the building is approximately $10,000.SFPD #2016-88875.
