2/16/2017 - Arson

On February 5th, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to two separate reports of vehicle fires.  The first incident occurred in the area of 61st Street and Bakker Park Drive where a 2002 Chevy pick-up was intentionally set on fire.  The second incident occurred in the area of 53rd Street and Bluestem Street where a 1999 Honda Accord was intentionally set on fire.  The combined loss for the vehicle damage is estimated to be over $10,000.  SFPD CC# 2017-08865.

2/9/2017 - Theft

On February 5th, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to a business in the area of 12th Street and Kiwanis Avenue for a theft.  An unknown suspect entered the business and selected a rifle from a display area.  The suspect was able to conceal the rifle under his clothing and left the business. The suspect was described as a white male, 40-50 years of age, 6’0, 200 lbs, with short balding gray hair, wearing a black jacket, fluorescent yellow vest under jacket, blue pants, and gray tennis shoes.  A photograph of the suspect was obtained from surveillance video and is attached to this document.  Total value of loss is $860.  . SFPD CC# 2017-08924.

2/2/2017 - Vandalism

On January 30, 2017 Minnehaha County Sheriff Deputies responded to Eastern Farmers Coop in Baltic, South Dakota for a vandalism.  An employee came to work and noticed a large amount of intentional damage done to property owned by Eastern Farmers Coop.  The employee found numerous vehicles with broken windows, broken headlights, and broken taillights.  The suspect(s) also discharged fire extinguishers in the vehicles owned by Eastern Farmers Coop.  The estimated damage done to the vehicles is in excess of $15,000.   MCSO CC# 2017-01287.

1/26/2017 - Robbery

On January 23rd, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to a business in the area of 6th Street and Dakota Avenue for a robbery.  An unknown suspect entered the business and threatened the employee with a handgun.  The suspect, who was described as a Hispanic or Native American male, approximately 20 years of age, with a lot of facial acne, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans, took an undermined amount of cash and fled the scene.  . SFPD CC# 2017-05735.

1/19/2017 - Theft

On January 15th, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to the area of 21st Street and Dakota Avenue for a theft from a vehicle.  Unknown suspect(s) damaged a parked vehicle by shattering several windows.  After damaging the windows, unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle and took a professional video camera and camera equipment.  The total value in loss is estimated to be in excess of $9000. SFPD CC# 2017-03577.

1/12/2017 - Burglary

On January 10, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to a business under construction in the area of 17th Street and Phillips Avenue for a burglary.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the building and took numerous construction tools.  The tools stolen consisted of hand power tools and drywall tools.  The total value in loss is estimated to be in excess of $8500. SFPD CC# 2017-02216.

On January 1, 2017 Sioux Falls Police responded to a convenience store in the 3500 block of West 49th Street for a robbery.  The suspect walked into the store with his hood pulled up over his head.  He walked up to the clerk and handed her a note demanding money from the cash register.  The suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of money.  The suspect was described as a Black male, 5’10 with a skinny build.  He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, and grey gloves.   A photo of the suspect is attached. SFPD CC# 2017-180.

12/29/2016 - Residential Burglary

On December 27, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near 69th Street and Grand Prairie Drive for a burglary.  An unknown suspect(s) were able to enter the residence by forcing open a secure door.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a stand up safe which contained several watches, a handgun, financial documents, and some prescription medications.  The total value of loss is estimated to be approximately $5,000.  SFPD CC# 16-102497.

12/22/2016 - Commercial Burglary

On December 21, 2016, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial burglary in the 2800 block of W. 6th Street.  The investigation found that unknown suspect(s) had cut a lock on a gate to the property and then forced entry into the office during the overnight hours.  An ATM and a vehicle were stolen from the business.  The vehicle was later recovered.   SFPD #2016-101071

12/15/2016 - Package Thefts

Over the course of the last several weeks, the Sioux Falls Police Department has responded to 8 different reports of package thefts.  The packages were delivered to the victim’s homes and then left on the front porch. The Sioux Falls Police Department is asking people to follow these tips to protect you from being a victim.  1.  Ask a neighbor to pick up your packages for you if you know you’re not going to be home.  2.  Have items delivered to your work.  3. If a retailer allows it, select a specific time for delivery when you will be home.
