Armed Robbery 19-13027
July 11, 2019

On July 9, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West Russell Street and North Louise Avenue for an armed robbery. The investigation found that an unknown suspect came into the business and approached an employee.  The suspect pointed a black handgun at the employee and demanded money.  The suspect then fled from the business with an undetermined amount of cash.  The suspect is described as a Black male, 25-35 years old, 5’10” and was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.  The suspect was observed leaving the scene in a light colored sedan. July 05, 2019

On July 1, 2019, the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a business near the area of West 41st Street and South Louise Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation showed that an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole numerous pieces of jewelry, remote control cars, cell phone cases, and drones.  The value of the items stolen is approximately $5,000.  SFPD CC#19-12372.



Grand Theft 19-11862
June 27, 2019

On June 24, 2019, the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a business near the area of West 60th Street North and North Westport Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation showed that an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into an enclosed trailer parked near the business.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole copper fittings and a large amount of rigid copper tubing.  The value of the items stolen is approximately $2,500.  SFPD CC#19-11862.

June 20, 2019

On June 17, 2019, the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a business near the area of West 12th Street and South Marion Road for an arson.  The investigation showed that an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into one of the buildings.  Once inside, the suspect(s) attempted to light some paper on fire on the floor.  The value of the damage done to the building is approximately $1,000.

Burglary 19-10936
June 13, 2019

On June 12, 2019, the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to Power Brokers Inc. at 2810 West Benson Road for a burglary.  The investigation showed that two unknown suspects drove a stolen vehicle into the front entrance doors of the business.  After driving through the doors, the two suspects entered the business and stole two motorcycles.  The stolen motorcycles are a black 2012 Honda CB1000RC and a red/silver 2008 Aprilia RV60.  The value of the damage done to the building and the two stolen motorcycles is approximately $20,000.  SFPD CC#19-10936.



Garage Burglaries 19-10060, 19-10129
June 06, 2019

On May 31, 2019, the Sioux Falls Police Department received two reports of residential garage burglaries near the area of E. 42nd Street and S. Alpine Avenue.  In both incidents, the victims had sets of golf clubs taken from their respective unsecured garages.  Video surveillance captured a white extended cab pickup in the area at the time of the burglaries.  The total loss for both incidents is $3300.

On May 25, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to the area of West 3rd Street and North Kiwanis Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had forced entry into a detached garage.  Once inside, the suspect stole numerous mechanic’s tools and equipment.  The damage done to the garage and the value of the stolen tools is approximately $100,000.  SFPD # CC#2019-9680.

May 23, 2019

On May 22, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to the area of West 12th Street and South Sertoma Avenue for an arson.  The investigation found that multiple pieces of paper had been placed in the park and then lit on fire.  A large section of the park grass had been damaged by the fire.  SFPD # CC#2019-9396.



Aggravated Assault 19-8830
May 16, 2019

On May 14, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to the area of West 12th Street and South Ruth Avenue for an aggravated assault.  The investigation found that there were two vehicles parked in a parking lot.  One vehicle was described as a silver SUV with a broken out rear window.  The other was described as a newer model white car.  As the newer model white car pulled out of the parking lot, a heavyset Native American male exited the silver SUV and started shooting at the white car.  An occupant of the white car then started shooting at the heavyset Native American male.  The driver of the silver SUV was described as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 40 years old with scars on his face.  SFPD # CC#2019-8830.



Armed Robbery 19-8288
May 09, 2019

On May 8, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to the area of East Rice Street and North Cliff Avenue for an armed robbery.  The investigation found that the victim was approached by a male who asked for a ride.  The victim agreed to give the male a ride.  While in the car the male pulled out a hatchet and threatened the victim with it.  The victim was able to exit the car and get away from the male.  The male took the victim’s wallet and fled from the scene.  The male is described as an African male in his 30’s with a thick accent.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a leather coat, and carrying a red backpack.  A picture of the suspect is attached. Over the course of the last several weeks, the Sioux Falls Police Department has taken numerous reports where people have fallen victim to online scams.  These scams target people of all backgrounds, ages and income levels.  If you've only ever met someone online or are unsure of the legitimacy of a business, take some time to do a bit more research.  Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.



Copper Wire Theft 19-5972
April 04, 2019

On April 4, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near West Russell Street and North Minnesota Avenue for a copper wire theft.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had broken into a secured area of the business.  After making entry into the secured area, the suspect stole an undetermined amount of copper wire.  SFPD CC#2019-5972.



Storage Unit Burglaries
March 28, 2019

On March 26, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a storage unit facility near East 54th Street North and North Cliff Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had broken into multiple storage units at the facility.  The investigation is still underway to determine what was stolen.  SFPD CC#2019-5284.

March 21, 2019

On March 18, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near West 46th Street and South Holbrook Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had broken into a vehicle parked in the victim’s driveway.  The suspect stole 24 collector knives and 7 firearms.  The value of the stolen items is approximately $18,000.  SFPD CC#2019-4773.

March 14, 2019

On March 14, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near West 11th Street and South Prairie Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had forced entry into the unoccupied residence.  Once inside, the suspect stole copper pipe and fittings.  The value of the stolen items and the damage done to the residence is approximately $7,000.  SFPD CC#2019-4477.



Stolen Snowmobiles 19-466
March 07, 2019

On March 1, 2019, Deputies with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence near 248th Street and 475th Avenue for two stolen snowmobiles.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect pulled onto the property and hooked up a trailer containing the two snowmobiles.  The suspect then drove away.  The vehicle the suspect was driving was described as a grey extended cab pickup.  The suspect is described as a 16-25 year old White Male, 5’8” and 150 pounds.  The suspect was wearing a tan Carhartt style coat, blue jeans, and an orange stocking hat.  The value of the stolen items is approximately $20,000.  MCSO CC#2019-00466.

February 28, 2019

On February 11, 2019, Deputies with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds at 100 North Lyons Boulevard for a burglary. The investigation found that an unknown suspect broke into an ATM located on the property.   The suspect was able to get an undetermined amount of money from the ATM.                                 MCSO CC#2019-00344.

February 21, 2019

On February 20, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 11th Street and South Minnesota Avenue for an armed robbery. The investigation found that an unknown suspect came into the business at closing time and walked behind the counter.  The suspect went to the cash register and took an undetermined amount of money.  The suspect then fled from the business.  A picture of the suspect is attached.  SFPD CC#2019-003047.

On February 10, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East Rice Street and North Cliff Avenue for an armed robbery. The investigation found that an unknown suspect came into the business and walked up to the employee working.  The suspect pointed a black handgun at the employee and demanded money.  The employee was able to exit the business and start yelling for help.  The suspect then fled from the business.  The suspect is described as White male, 30 years old, 5’7” and armed with a black handgun.  SFPD CC#2019-002472.

February 07, 2019

On February 6, 2019, Sioux Falls Police responded to a storage unit facility near West 49th Street and South Minnesota Avenue. The investigation found that an unknown suspect(s) had forced entry into a locked storage unit.  The suspect(s) stole the victim’s shoe collection.  The value of damage done to the storage unit and the stolen shoes is approximately $3,000.  SFPD CC#2019-002250.
