These scams target people of all backgrounds, ages and income levels. If you've only had contact with them online or are unsure of the legitimacy of a business, take some time to do a bit more research. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

On April 29, 2023, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near West 26th Street and South Marion Road for a burglary. The investigation found that an unknown suspect(s) had broken a glass window and then entered the building. Once inside, the suspect forced open a video lottery machine. The damage done to the building and the video lottery machine is approximately $7,000.

The investigation found that an unknown suspect(s) had broken a glass door and then entered the building. The suspect was able to get into an office and steal an undetermined amount of money before fleeing.

On March 28, 2023, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 41st Street and South Louise Avenue for a theft. The investigation found that unknown suspects walked into a business. Once inside the business the suspects approached the employee working. While one of the suspects was speaking with the employee the other suspect stole jewelry. The suspects then fled from the store. The value of the stolen jewelry is approximately $8,000.

The investigation found that unknown subject(s) had forced entry into a construction trailer. Once inside the trailer the subject(s) stole numerous tools. The investigation found that the suspects had made entry into the business and put numerous items into their cart. The suspects attempted to push their cart out of the business without paying and were confronted by an employee. After being confronted one of the suspects displayed a handgun and exited the store.
